Each year he takes his bees to a local organic blueberry farm in the spring to help with pollination, then to the wild mountains on the West Coast of Vancouver Island for the bees to forage on the fireweed and salal. Committed to lifelong learning, Derek is a mentor to many local bee-keepers, helping to pass on a natural and organic way to keep bees.
